A RIDE INTO THE SIERRA MADRES

Ride with an experienced English speaking guide into the lush, tropical, Sierra Madre Mountains on carefully chosen, well behaved horses. Visit waterfalls and experience being close to the jungle. Three different tours for all levels of experience.
3 HOUR RIDE
This ride snakes along the Rio Cuale heading into the Sierra Madre mountains. Though the ride starts just 10 minutes from Downtown Vallarta, it soon becomes like another world. You will pass 2 local villages, and soon be riding in what can only be described as jungle. As you ride on, the view become more and more spectacular, and you are likely to see a variety of exotic wild birds. This may well include wild Guacamayas (Macaws), who will announce their passing very loudly. The ride is for those not wanting to ride too far, and a break at a stunning riverside restaurant called Moro Paraiso is included in the 3 hours. All abilities are catered for, as is the case in all our rides.

4 HOUR RIDE ......Two options.

Option 1 A longer ride, our desination will be a small natural waterfall high in the mountains. Given that we ride much further up, you will be delighted with the views that include mountain ranges with no houses in sight. Apart from the odd truck, and occasional ATV tour passing, we will be left to enjoy the spectacular views of the Sierra Madres. After and hour and 15 minutes approximately of riding, we will reach Las Piletas where refreshements can be purchased, and you can take a dip in the crystal clear water if you wish. The pace is always slow, and you will not be rushed. This ride will take close to 4 hours, depending on the length of visit at Las Piletas. So remember your swimming gear just in case!

Option 2 is for the slightly more adventurous amongst us. Most of the riding is done off road, and you will be cutting through virgin jungle. The destination is a larger natural waterfall way up into the mountain. This has a beautiful large swimming pool which is remote, and extremely beautiful. Though the riding time is similar to ride 2, it is more up and downhill. Glimpses of the bay can be had whilst way up the mountain. For this option, of course bring your swim wear, but more importantly remember to bring water and snacks as there is no possibility of purchasing anything on the ride. Absolutely no McDonalds or Oxxo up here!!! Again the ride will be close to 4 hours depending on the time you choose to spend swimming.

Please remember that during rainy season, all options are available, but the water of the Rio Cuale will not be clear. HOWEVER, given the water comes from a different river in option 2, the water is clean ALL YEAR !!! A fact that delighted me on my first year of exploring the mountains here.
