Puerto Vallarta Businesses Cut Prices Ahead of the 2026-27 High Season

September is a lull for many businesses in Puerto Vallarta, and businesses are lowering prices as the summer season winds down and the 2026-27 high season approaches.

Businesses say they are trying new approaches to attract customers and encourage travelers to plan trips to Puerto Vallarta. At Cheeky Lounge, prices on nearly everything are reduced throughout September.

Brian Scott Carey, one of the owners of Cheeky Lounge and Cheeky Pool Club, manages about 13 rental properties and said the economy is tough right now. He also said low season compounds economic difficulty in a tourist town.

Guests booking in September for a September, October or November stay receive one night free after two nights. Guests booking five nights or more at Villa Sevilla receive an additional 20% off.

The Palm and Coco Cabaret are each cutting ticket prices by 100 pesos. The reductions come as costs in Mexico have risen sharply in recent years, while a weaker exchange rate means the U.S. dollar buys less than it used to.

Mexico’s minimum wage rose from 141.70 pesos to 315.04 pesos, a 122% increase since 2021. Mexico has no separate lower minimum wage for tipped workers, and employers must pay the full minimum wage regardless of tips. Tips are legally considered a voluntary gratuity in Mexico. The 2025 reform explicitly barred employers from counting tips as part of wages.
