Puerto Vallarta Community Ride to Highlight Proposed Scenic Bike Path

A community cycling event on September 20 will bring attention to a proposed scenic bike path in Puerto Vallarta.

The initiative is directed at Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus. A group of local athletes, cyclists, and sports organizations is calling for infrastructure that better accommodates people who ride and train on two wheels.

Participants will gather at Los Arcos del Malecón, with the ride scheduled to start at 8:00 am. Cyclists, members of the local sports community, and the general public are invited to take part.

The proposed initiative would create a route dedicated to cyclists exercising and traveling with less exposure to vehicle traffic. Organizers say such a route could lower the risk of accidents and reduce cyclists’ exposure to vehicles on major roads.

The proposed path could support healthier, more sustainable transportation and give residents and visitors a new way to experience Puerto Vallarta’s natural scenery. Organizers believe it could also encourage more people to choose cycling for exercise and transportation.

The demonstration is intended to draw attention to the need for road infrastructure that better accommodates cyclists, runners, and other vulnerable road users. Organizers say the project could benefit runners and others who use public roads for recreation and transportation.

Organizers are seeking to evaluate the project’s feasibility and find an opportunity to discuss it with state authorities. Their goal is for the scenic bike path eventually to be considered within the state’s public works and budget programs.
